About the Author

Hello dearest reader!

It is truly a pleasure to have you here!

My name is Hannah Quense, but I also go by Hanz, Hans, HQ, Hen, Hench, Hanz Bananz, Han Solo, Penelope, and Hans Christian Andersen (ok so no one calls me Hans Christian Andersen, but if I could call myself by a nickname that would be it).

Fam & Faith

I come from a large, loud, and boisterous family that specializes in the best kind of weird.

My family is filled with love, laughter, and support, which, I believe, stems from our rich Catholic faith.

My Catholic faith is very important to me, and is often reflected in my poetry.

Life & Love

At this point in my life I am serving with a Nonprofit Organization called Saint Paul’s Outreach. While Saint Paul’s Outreach (SPO) is a national organization, and is located in my home state of New Jersey, I am serving at their National Headquarters in Minnesota.

The work I do can often be difficult, annoying, and thankless, but I really am loving every moment of it! I believe strongly in SPO’s mission to evangelize to college students through vibrant faith-filled communities, and am grateful for this chance to serve with the group of people who changed my life when I was in college.

Apart from that, one of my biggest loves in life is poetry. I may not be the best at reading  it often or even understanding it fully when I do, but I am smitten by the truth it relays and the beauty it provides to life.

I can’t really tell you if I’ve been writing poetry my whole life, because honestly I don’t really remember, but I do know that I discovered my love for it in high school. Since then, I’ve been writing poetry: good or bad, serious or ridiculous, teen angsty or prayer-filled, and so much more. However, with 9 years of writing experience under my belt, I have about 3% experience sharing what I’ve written with others. This is my chance to change that.
